The league was first established in May 1920 under the name of the American Professional Football Association, and was later renamed the National Football League on January 28, 1922.
The NFL Professional Football League is composed of 32 teams from different regions and cities in the United States, divided into two conferences: the American Football Conference (AFC) and the National Football Conference (NFC). Each league is composed of four divisions: east, west, north and south. Each division has four teams and affiliated players.
The annual competition is divided into three time periods: Preseason, Regular Season and Playoff. The preseason lasts four weeks and serves as a warm-up for the regular season.
